Abstract

INNOVATION IN INDUSTRIAL 4.0 PERSPECTIVE
Industrial revolutions are the turning points of the world economy and industrial life. Industry 4.0 is considered the last of these industrial revolutions. Therefore, Industry 4.0 has been a subject that has been frequently discussed and attracted the attention of researchers in recent years. The concept of Industry 4.0 was first introduced at the Hannover Fair in 2011, and a production system enabling the flexible cooperation of the Smart Factories and cyber-physical manufacturing systems in a global sense has been mentioned. Many countries that direct the world economy, particularly the USA, Germany and China, are trying to pass to the Industry 4.0 model. While the Industry 4.0 model is a revolution in every issue, it also brings many innovations, transformations and changes. Therefore, a great deal of innovation is required in many areas before passing the Industry 4.0 model. Innovation refers to novelty that create added value in product, process, marketing and organizational terms. The innovations provided by Industry 4.0 technologies are considered as necessity rather than need. Therefore, it is not possible to be successful in transition to the Industry 4.0 model if the required innovations are not realized. The aim of this study is to reveal the importance of innovation in transition to the Industry 4.0 model. For this purpose, firstly the concepts of Industry 4.0 and innovation are explained, then innovation is examined in the perspective of Industrial 4.0, examples are given and suggestions are developed. In addition, it is emphasized that organizational innovations are necessary for Industry 4.0 revolution rather than product, process and marketing innovations. In this context, many innovations have to be made in the organizational sense in the transition to the Industry 4.0 model.
