Abstract


THE ROLE OF LITERATURE IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN: CHILD IN OSCAR WILDE’S AND ÖMER SEYFETTİN’S STORIES
Oscar Wilde and Ömer Seyfettin are great and unique philosophers and authors who in their own unique ways value the Individual and Individuality, Child and era of Childhood. One nineteenth century Irish author and one nineteenth century Turkish author –Wilde and Seyfettin – through their short stories present and emphasize the necessity and importance of observing closely and carefully, noticing, taking into consideration and respecting “the childhood era of mankind.” and “childhood innocence” for the bright futures of countries. Wilde and Seyfettin are, in fact, universalists as works of both authors make readers see the considerable psychological insight of children and what makes them timeless authors shedding light on the studies of scholars and researchers is thanks to their mastery on reflecting the significance of the feelings, thoughts, ideas, beliefs, dreams, skills, endeavours, souls of children, and this is the main argument of this article.
