Abstract
A STUDY ON THEUSAGE OF KHAGANANDKHAN İN GREAT MONGOLİANULUS İN THE13TH CENTURY
The Mongol rulers who lived in the 13th century, like many states in every period of history, used
some titles. From this perspective, the most important titles used by the rulers in the Great Mongol
Ulus are khagan and khan. Thus, in our study, these titles were taken as basis and various
linguistic and spelling forms were examined and evidence was sought for their use and superiority
to each other. In this regard, the first rulers of the Great Mongol Ulus in the 13th century starting
from Genghis, respectively Ögedei, Göyük, Möngke and Qubilai were examined. The documents
created during their periods were scanned in detail. These documents include in scriptions, edicts,
chronicles, numismatic data and some historical remains. According to the data obtained from
the said sources, some conclusions have been made about their use in the period mentioned
briefly about the emergence of titles. One of the in ferences obtained as a result of these
researches is the simultaneous use of the two titles during this the period. Inaddition, the only
difference between the two titles investigated is the way of writing and the opinion that one does not have any superiority over the other.
