Abstract


EXAMINING THE EFFECT OF THE GAME-BASED TRAINING PROGRAM ON BASIC MOVEMENT SKILLS OF CHILDREN IN THE AGE GROUP OF FIVE
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the Game-Based Training Program on the basic movement skills of children in the age group of five. Therefore, the design with pretest-posttest control group was used. In order to examine the effect of the Game-Based Training Program, 40 five-year children (20 control-20 experimental) receiving education in two kindergartens in the city center of Malatya were included in the study. The data were collected by using the “General Information Form” prepared by the researcher and the “Motor Performance Test” which was developed by Morris, Atwater Williams and Wilmore (1980) and adapted to Turkish children by Sevimay (1986). The acquired data were analyzed by using the SPSS 22.0 packaged software; as well as significance tests like the independent samples t-test, dependent samples t-test and Mann-Whitney U test. As a consequence, it was observed that the Game-Based Training Program was effective on the skills of balance, agility, running and catching in children in the age group of five; however, it did not contribute to the skills of long jumping and tossing.
