Turkish dialects of Iran have a special place in the Turkic languages as a whole. Recently, there have been many studies devoted to these dialects. These dialects, which are spread all across Iran, have gone through various changes. Many of these dialects are on the verge of extinction. Khorasani Turkish which is the point where western and eastern Turkic meet is the one more liable to extinction than the other dialects. Khorasani dialects which have their own characteristic phonetics and grammatical structures have a special place not only in the Oghuz languages but also in the other Turkish dialects in Iran. The present study aims at investigating the dialect of Joveyn which belongs to the southern category of Khorasani Turkish. The most important characteristics of this dialect have been provided with examples, and in case it is necessary, comparisons have been made with the other Turkish dialects in Iran. The most important features that are there in the Joveyn dialect follow. There are the following changes: ö > é, ü > i, and ŋ > y; the third-person plural suffix is -län; the past perfect suffix is used as -(u)pdur or -(i)pdir; the future tense suffix is made with -Ar rather than –AcAk; the conditional suffix -sA is not utilized; the demonstrative pronoun şu is utilized; infinitives are made with the suffix -dlq rather than -mAk. Many of these changes have occurred through the influence of Persian. The impact of Persian is not limited to phonetic and morphological aspects, and can be observed in syntax as well. If the present conditions persist, the Joveyn dialect will die out in the near future like the other dialects with few speakers in regions where Persian is also spoken
