Abstract


EVALUATION OF MESNEVI STORIES IN TERMS OF CASE STUDY METHOD AND CONTEXT BASED APPROACH (SELECTED STORY SAMPLES FOR ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES)
Mevlana use stories in Mesnevi in order to reduce the abstract realities that people have difficulty to understand to a level that they can easily understand. Mevlana treat the stories as scales in which meaning of the seeds is germinated. Moreover he accepts the stories as lighthouse that leads the passengers wishing to arrive to the port or the smell of the heaven apple that brings message from endless garden. Mevlana accepts the stories as the windows open to the truth. Mevlana’s educational approach through the stories corresponds to the case study among contemporary educational methods. Mevlana selects actors such as child, young, adult, older, male, female, urban, peasant, beggar, thief, concubine, shaver, parrot trainer, caravan, sultan, queen, scholar, professor, qadi, dervish, priest, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Mazdean etc. in his stories. Selected actors from different social environments show that the stories are understandable for everyone in the society. This approach evokes the context based learning that is recommended in contemporary education. This study aims to compare the storytelling methods in Mesnevi to the case study method and context based learning approach and to evaluate some stories in terms of administrative sciences.
