Abstract


DETERMINING ENVIRONMENTAL LITERACY LEVEL OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
The goal of this study is to determine the literacy level of secondary school students in terms of attitude and behavior variables. The study was carried out in 2017-2018 education semester; a total of 320 students studying at secondary school, 7th grade, in Artvin city center, were included the study. Survey model was used in the study. “Environmental Literacy Scale for Secondary School Students” was used in order to collect data and the arithmetic mean of the data was calculated. In order to reveal if there was a relation between sub-dimensions, simple linear correlation analysis was carried out. At the end of the study, it was determined that there was a positive and meaningful relation between behavior and attitude sub dimensions (r = 0, 47, p < 0.01). The average of secondary school students scores in environmental literacy scale was calculated as X=82, 3. In this case, it can be said that secondary school 7th grade students’ environmental literacy level is high.
