Abstract


HUMOR AS A COMMUNICATION TOOL: SPORTS-BASED 'CAPS' CULTURE ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA
Laughter is a reflex that occurs due to different causes. Humor is just one of the reasons for laughing. Humor, on the one hand, reflects the funny, contradictory, and unusual aspects of events, while at the same time it makes people think and laugh. In this sense humor is the act of revealing contradictions between situations. In this context social media is one of the most used areas of humor. New communication technologies are a medium which people share ideas and discuss. Social media also creating opportunities for people to share their thoughts and works. This virtual environment, called as social media, is important because not only it is user-based, but also because it brings together people and enhances interactive interaction between them. One of the tools, called ‘memes’, used by people to criticize, cheer and comment on their thoughts via social media. In this study, content and discourse analysis of humorous capsules, especially sports, will be done. Then capsules will be highlighted in open and closed functions in social media.
