The purpose of this research is to determine the literacy level of primary school 8 th grade students towards information technologies and examine the information technologies literacy level of the students in terms of several variables. In this study, the achievement test, consists of 40 items, the writer had developed was used for determining the information technologies literacy level of the students. 966 students studying in the second term of 2011-2012 educational years from 9423 students in the central district border of Malatya province constitute the sample of this research. The research was conducted with 504 girls and 462 boy students. Information technology literacy achievement test taken by students to determine the average point 26.3, median 27 and the mode is 31.It was seen that the students were slightly successful in the information technologies literacy test because of the bell shaped curve being a bit negatively skewed distributed. In the light of these findings, it can be stated at the end of the research that the information technologies literacy level of the students is intermediate. In the second lower problem of the research, information technologies literacy level of the 8th grade primary students were examined by means of variables such as gender, age, income level of the family, having a desktop/laptop computer, having internet connectivity at home, where they had learnt to use the internet, the frequency of their using the computer and internet, for what reason they used the desktop/laptop most, whether there was someone else at home to use the computer/internet, having a cell phone, the frequency of their internet access via cell phone. The 8th grade students’ information technologies literacy levels are moderate. There aren’t any remarkable differences observed based on gender, age or using internet via cell phone. Also information technologies literacy is higher on students over 2000 income levels having compute and internet every day, having cell phones etc. other indicators. Various advices are made depending on the outcomes of the research.
