Abstract

FOOD EXPORTS IN TURKEY ANALYSIS OF CASUALTY BETWEEN FOOD PRICES AND INFLATION
Inflation is a term that concerns all decision-makers in economic life. High inflation causes decrease of purchasing power of fixed income investments, increasing the cost of production and deceleration of the economic activities. Export volume provides selling the goods and services to abroad in order to generate an income. Thus, economic growth will be ensured by attracting the foreign currency through export volume. Turkey increase export volume in order to raise the economic growth and attracting more foreign currency. The share of food exportation increases out of total export volume. Data is derived from statistical institutions of Turkey as monthly for both consumer price index and food export variables from 2003:2 to 2018:11 which includes 190 observation. The food export data are and CPI derived as dollar-denominated from TÜIK’S official website. ADF unit root test is implemented for all series in order to make stationary. After converting all series from I(0) to I(1), VAR model is also implemented to make Granger causality test and impulse response analysis. According to results of empirical research, there is bi-directional relationship between food export and CPI.
