Abstract


THE EFFECT OF INFORMAL COMMUNICATION ON EMPOWERMENT AND WORK PLACE HAPPINESS: A RESEARCH ON RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
Natural and spontaneous informal communication in interpersonal relations can benefit the organization as long as it is for work. Workplace happiness, defined as emotional well-being in the workplace, can be positively influenced by the positive informal communication situation in the organization. On the other hand, empowerment, which expresses the authority to decide and take initiative without getting approval from another person within the area in which they operate, can also be better implemented in an informal communication environment. In the light of these arguments, the main purpose of the research; to demonstrate the impact of informal communication on workplace happiness and the mediation of empowerment. A questionnaire was applied on 143 research assistants working in Bülent Ecevit, Süleyman Demirel, Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Akdeniz Universities. Data were analyzed using the SmartPLS analysis approach. The structural equation model in the SmartPLS program is analyzed with the variance based structural model approach. The aim of this study is to see the effect of informal communication style on workplace happiness and performance empowerment. In addition, the regulatory effect of staff empowerment between informal communication and workplace happiness is another aim of the study. According to the results of the analysis; The informal communication style has a positive and significant effect on staff empowerment and workplace happiness. In addition, the relationship between informal communication and workplace happiness shows the effect of empowering personnel. According to the research, one-unit increase in informal communication increases the happiness of the workplace.
