Abstract


THE VIEWS OF HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY ON THE PUBLIC POLICIES APPLIED DURING CRISIS PERIODS IN TOURISM SECTOR: A CASE OF ANTALYA PROVINCE
The tourism sector is growing and developing day by day and becoming an economic power that is of great importance for the countries. The sector is a very serious source of income for many developing countries. The tourism sector plays a vital role in combating the crisis and getting out of the crisis with the help of its elastic structure and the support it provides to the economy and employment during the crisis periods. In recent years, all kinds of crises in the world, have seriously damaged the tourism industry and all the stakeholders of the sector have suffered a great loss. It is not possible for the accommodation sector to overcome cyclical crises on its own and the public support is needed. Accommodation companies should be prepared for the crisis in a coordinated work with the public sector in order to sustain their activities and to prevent the crisis from happening or to overcome the crisis with the least damage. In the research, the incentives implemented by the state so far, the crises and their effects in the last two decades, the measures implemented by the state in times of crisis are included. The aim of the research is to analyze how effective the public policies to solve, overcome the crisis and how they are assimilated by the sector in Turkey where is the crises are frequently faced. For this purpose, a field study was conducted concerning the representatives of the 4 star and over accommodation enterprises operating in the province of Antalya. In the study, the representatives of the accommodation enterprises were asked about whether the measures taken by the state in times of crisis were sufficient or not. As a result, according to the variable of service year accommodation companies, significant differences were found between the attitudes of the enterprises in crisis periods and their attitudes towards the measures to be taken.
